Elaine Sundberg
Hometown: Libertyville, IL
Year: 2017
Major: History (Archaeology Concentration)
Goalkeeper for the Carleton Women’s Varsity Soccer program, Elaine came to frisbee with an extensive background in catching flying objects, diving onto the ground, and leading with her voice. Elaine talks on the field with an authority of unflagging optimism, always demanding more from her teammates yet never letting them forget that she believes in them. Her wingspan and sticky, peanut butter hands (always in gloves, that goalkeeper!) make her a formidable defender in the cup and an ideal target for a handler’s toss anywhere on the field. She brings an intensity of focus and a hunger to improve to every practice and game, keeping her cuts angular and throws zippy day in and day out. From a family where distant relatives drive hours out of their way to watch her play team sports and grandmothers send piles of scrumptious monster cookies to her entire team multiple times a season, giving is second nature for Elaine. She is the most considerate teammate and compassionate opponent you could ask for and is even known to thank her teammates for their cheers during a track workout – yes, even when she is sprinting full out. Between her sunny radiance and aggressive, loud and dependable performance on the field, you can’t miss her.
